Port Hole Books is located in the lovely seaport village
of Old Town, Florence, on the beautiful Oregon Coast. On picturesque
Hwy 101, Florence is a popular destination point for Pacific
Coast travelers, and a haven for the arts.
Before opening in Florence, Port Hole Books was located in
Polson, Montana on the shores of fabulous Flathead Lake. The
original bookstore opened in August, 1993, beginning with
a tiny inventory in a 300 sq. ft. cubbyhole. In 2000, owner
Ellen Traylor and her husband, Richard Schulz, bought and
renovated an historic old church building (the first Protestant
church on the Flathead Indian Reservation of Western Montana)
to house the growing business. That building also housed adjuncts
to the book business: Port Hole Theatre which hosted numerous
author events, and CyberPortHole.Cafe, an internet cafe and
restaurant.

Traylor had dreamed for years of having a shop on the Oregon
Coast, near her home town of Eugene. After 13 years in Montana,
the business relocated to Florence, Oregon, where it opened
its doors on July 1, 2006.
Traylor and her husband have now fulfilled both their Montana
and Oregon dreams!
We hope that when you are in our area, you will stop by and
enjoy our shop!
