April 24, 2009 Port Hole Books, 120 Maple St., Florence; 7pm-9pm; Ellen will speak and give a Power Point presentation on her latest book, A Bridge Back - The Early Days of Florence, Oregon (a project of Merchants of Old Town, celebrating the 150th anniversary of Oregon). She will share her adventures in research and the intriguing things she learned as she immersed herself in the early days of a "rollicking town, at once Wild West and gentle-natured."

April 26, 2009 Siuslaw Valley Christian Center, 9th and Maple, Florence; 6pm-8pm; Ellen will speak and give a Power Point presentation on the spiritual heritage of Florence, based on the research she did for A Bridge Back - The Early Days of Florence, Oregon. This period was very active religiously, leading to the great social activism of the 20th century, but also to charlatans.

December 9, 2009 "An Evening of Holiday Readings," in honor of the literary patron of Christmas, Charles Dickens, and Old Town's Dickens Christmas, will be held at the store, Wednesday, Dec. 9, 7pm. This is a chance for the public to share favorite holiday works, including their own writings. Ellen Traylor will share from her own works, as well. Victorian attire is encouraged, though not required. If you have nothing to read that evening, just come to listen!
February 26, 2010 Ellen will speak to the Oregon Dunes Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution, on the history of Florence, Oregon, with a power point presentation and a review of her book, A BRIDGE BACK - The Early Days of Florence, Oregon. The book was written for the 150th Anniversary of Oregon, as a project of Merchants of Old Town Florence, and was accepted into the archives of the DAR Library in Washington, D.C. 1:30pm, Florence United Methodist Church, 333 Kingwood St. (541)997-2471.

February 24, 2010 Nature writer, William Sullivan, and his artist wife, Janell Sorenson, will share their adventures building and living in a log cabin in the wilds of the coast range. Based on his memoir, Cabin Fever: Notes from a Part-Time Pioneer, Sullivan will present a slide show, and Sorenson will show her artwork on cards and prints, some of which illustrate the book. 6:30pm. Free.
